| (Image 1 of 6) Into the year 2000, six holdout semaphores survived on the old Erie RR mainline between Waverly and Binghamton, NY. Believed to have installed in 1909 these are some of the oldest railroad signals remaining in service. Signal 2452 was replaced, due to mechanical difficulties (8/2000), less than after this photograph was taken. As of 1/2001 only 4 remain (#s 2512,2511,2492,2242). |
