| Close-up of a BNSF (ex Santa Fe) T2 semaphore in New Mexico. Of interest here is the use of "gull goosers". This slang term was humorously used by a signal supervisor to denote the sharp metal teeth attached to the end of the wooden blade. These are used to discourage birds from "painting" the blade and lenses with regular deposits of nitrogenous waste. | ||
