SOUTH CAROLINA
Myrtle Beach, SC
Information kindly supplied by Rich Frey (12/98)
Myrtle Beach, S.C. - At the intercoastal waterway bridge, there is currently a
set of manually operated (pipe connected) 2 aspect semaphores. The top arm
on each is moveable, the bottom one fixed. It appears that the trackage has
not been used in some time, and the pipe connections to the semaphores have
been buried in spots. There are new 2 color signals on short masts in place
next to the blades, so it seems they will not be in use any longer. This
stretch of track is owned by Carolina Southern and was formerly the Waccamaw
Coast Line.
Also a fixed position distant semaphore signal is believed to exist.
No details available, additional information welcome.
